Tours de Farce: The Mother Of All Gifts

Okay, here's the game plan.

Mother's Day is only a couple of days away, and you're probably still wondering what to get her. Furthermore, tickets for Lou Reed, Ricardo Arjona and Lifehouse also go on sale this weekend. Do we need to draw you a picture?

That's right. Mom and concerts. What better way to celebrate Mom's special day than to buy tickets for all the big shows, like Norah Jones and Maze Feat. Frankie Beverly? What you want to do is get up early tomorrow and be first in line for the best selection. But no shoving or taking cuts in line. After all, we're sure your mother brought you up better than that.

Take our word for it. If you follow our advice, not only will you surprise Mom by buying tickets for Martin Sexton and Three Dog Night this Mother's Day weekend, but you also feel good about yourself. And didn't Mom always tell you that good self-esteem is important for a well-rounded personality?

Imagine how Mom will feel when she learns that you took it upon yourself to drag your butt out of bed on a Saturday morning and buy tickets for shows like Survivor and "Weird Al" Yankovic. Sure, flowers are heavenly and candy is dandy, but a son or daughter making grown-up decisions about where to sit for James Taylor or on which night to catch 50 Cent is a sign that she raised you proper. Oh, and be sure to wash your hands after each purchase. Moms have a thing about cleanliness.

Let's review: Mother's Day is Sunday, May 11. Tickets for Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, Pearl Jam and Lollapalooza go on sale this weekend. Cash, credit card, equity line of credit, it makes no difference how you purchase them, as long as you show Mom that you're a responsible adult who can make his or her own decisions. Got that? Good.

Oh, and you might want to set a couple of dollars aside so that you can buy Mom a card. After buying all those tickets for yourself, you should probably get her something. After all, it is Mother's Day.
