Smoking Marijuana For Fun Is Still Illegal In California

Posted on Thursday October 22, 2009 at 08:01 AM 3 |

Although the Cypress Hill SmokeOut, scheduled for Oct. 23-24 at San Bernardino’s San Manuel Amphitheatre, is all about music and marijuana activism, local authorities want concert goers to know they will get arrested if caught lighting up a spliff.

Or a doob, joint, reefer, roach, bong, or whatever slang you like to apply. While the event will play host to several panel discussions covering marijuana issues, it doesn’t mean the venue will be a bust-free zone this weekend.

The local county sheriff department has issued a warning to those who might be tempted to partake in some cannabis, according to the Inland Empire Daily Bulletin.

“The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department wishes to remind concert-goers that while state law makes provision for the possession, use and cultivation of limited amounts of marijuana for medicinal purposes, it does not allow the recreational use of the drug. Further, there is no provision in the law for the use of marijuana while operating a motor vehicle, whether someone possess a doctor’s recommendation for the drug or not.”

According to the Daily Bulletin, sheriff deputies and California Highway Patrol officers will patrol the amphitheatre grounds during the concert. So don’t say you weren’t warned.

In addition to Cypress Hill, this year’s SmokeOut also includes performances by Deftones, Slipknot, Pennywise, Psycho Realm, Method Man & Redman, and reunion performances by Sublime, Geto Boys and Goodie Mob.

Discussion panel titles include “Marijuana 101: The Higher Education of Pot,” “CelebStoners Speak Out For Cannabis,” “Free The Weed: Legalization Now” and “SmokeOut Musicians Session” which includes Tommy Chong among its panel talking heads. Chong, along with comedy partner Cheech Marin will also host Saturday’s SmokeOut stage.

I think that the cops got to stoned in the parking lot  because they didn't seem to want to do anything inside...people were walking around the entire venue openly smoking out of every device possible...it was a stoners dream
